ALBUM REVIEW: V/A Kitsune Parisien II (2) out February 13 on Kitsune

Yes yes yes, another Kitsune compilation comes along and everyone's panties drop and the orgasms are heard all over the world about just how great they are. 'More more more' we cry, 'Oh yes baby give it to me again'. Useful? Well that's not for me to decide for you right now. Is this compilation enough to get you hard / wet - both? Maybe not quite but it might get you laid if you subtly press play with the right girl or guy or both in the room.

I tested this theory out and it almost worked, at least it might have if my cat hadn't decided to vomit up my missing earplugs all over the parquet. Have not got that stain out. Thanks for that.

The compilation starts with the sexy 'So Long My Love' by tomorrows world. This is a smart contemporary track that oozes sex and is great fucking material. The new Juveniles track follows. Its not as good as 'We Are Young' - whatever, never could be. Make out background noise it certainly is. More of the same with some sultry female vocals on Free by 'Owlle' follows. She has a vivacious voice that excites me.

I didn't enjoy every track on this. About the Girls effort 'Tiger Evolution' was tame, thankfully it was followed by the awesome 'Angelina' by Nameless.

Look, this is 90% throwaway electro indie pop but who cares? If you want now music then go get it. Theres bound to be some new bands on here you haven't heard of and it's good to keep up with what's hot, or going to be in the next few months. Kitsune are good at that and always have been.

DOWNLOAD: oki-ni presents CLASSICS by Jupiter

The band behind this mix, Jupiter, are a boy/girl duo from London. This might not sound very Kitsuné, but if you add the fact that they are now based in Paris and have a passion for retro electro- pop hits, and the connection becomes more clear.

Their mix is part an ode to Kitsuné and part their own manifesto, as they explain:

‘Our philosophy as a band has always been as follows: creating new sounds by challenging our inspiration against the heritage of past music. This mix is a representative sample of this approach; it's the best of both worlds.

ALBUM REVIEW: V/A 'Kitsuné Parisien' out 21 February on Kitsuné

Harmless synth pop and electro dance with a light smattering of Parisien panache and a dash of that bad Paris attitude make this compilation, the latest from music / fashion label Kitsuné a real stand out winner.

There are some excellent New New Wave tracks on here, none better than the strange and alluring voice of Exotica's lead singer on 'Désorbitée' which is a massive hark back to the 80's of Patrick Nagel in my book and possibly a reference to the classic Vanessa Paradis track 'Joe Le Taxi'? If you have never seen the video to that particular gem (and if you're not from France then there is a massive chance you haven't - I was informed about this by my girlfriend) - it's worth checking out the music video below as it has to be seen to believed. Some fucked up shit came out of the 80's and this has to be up there with the most fucked - not gonna spill if for you though so watch and enjoy. Anyway I digress but if you listen to the two songs below you might come to the same conclusion. I prefer Exotica though because the vocals, Seinfeld bass guitar and synths are out of this world and it all comes together just right so it's our song of the moment right now.

That's not to say there are not some other good songs on this compilation. Check out Birkii 'Shade Of Doubt' and Sake by 'Jupiter' for some more electro pop gone right. BeatauCue toughen things up nicely with a joint called 'Behold' and there is an awesome slo-disco track from Housse De Racket 'Château' remixed by Golden Bug. Click Here for a free sample minimix.

Digitalism's magnificent new single 'blitz' is out now on Kitsuné. We already told you about it in out review of Kitsuné Maison 10 but the video is so good it's worth another mention. The energy in this production is overwhelming, who said the drugs don't work?

ALBUM REVIEW: V/A 'Kitsuné Maison 10 Compilation' out November 29 on Kitsuné

I've said it before about this series and I'll say it again; it's a great breeding ground for fresh talent and as a result it's a little hit and miss. If you like every track on here then you know something has gone wrong somewhere. Kitsune wouldn't keep doing them if they weren't at least a tiny bit commercially successful though would they?

At least they would have stopped before they hit number 10. So what has number 10, 'The Fireworks Issue' indecently, got that's worth making it an essential purchase this bonfire night? Well for a start there is a few well known names amongst the up and comings and personally a track that I have been waiting to hear for ages - the new Digitalism 'Blitz' that is superb, and awesome track called 'Sorry' by Justus Kohncke and a sweet sweet remix by MUSTANG of Two Door Cimema Clubs 'What You Know'.

Of course there were imo some misses although you may disagree and I hope at least some of you do. I didn't like the first 2 or 3 tracks on disc 1 and again there were a few on disc 2 that didn't do anything for me. I'm not going top get specific but when you pick up a copy later this month come back and let me know what you liked and didn't like.

Stand out for me was Flight Facilities 'Crave You (feat Giselle)'. I could not get this out of my head for a long time after listening to it which is always a good sign. Black Strobe and the Twelves on remix duty of Me & Madonna is also worth a few repeat listens.
