OLDSKOOL TRACK OF THE DAY: Skee-Lo - I Wish (1995)

What can I say about this? Classic Hip hop from Skee-Lo who was a one hit wonder with 'I Wish'.

OLDSKOOL TRACK OF THE DAY: Luniz 'I got 5 on it' 1995

Smoking weed never sounded so so good, The luniz pulled out this masterpiece back in 1995. I got 5 on it.

OLDSKOOL TRACK OF THE DAY: TLC - No Scrubs 1999

OK so it's 12 years old just scrapes in there as OLDSKOOL but it is still a classic from TLC. I don't want no scrubs either.

OLDSKOOL TRACK OF THE DAY: 2Pac - All About U 1996

NEW: Frank Ocean 'Pyramids'

Serious head noddin' Beatz dropping from Frank Ocean; riffin' about strippin'.

SINGLE REVIEW: Longevity 'Tantrum' out now on Decon

Oh yeah that's what I'm talking about. A bold statement by Longevity who declares this joint a 'hip hop anthem'. He's not far off, this cut certainly has more than the average bear you'd be wise to do as he says so 'Everybody in this motherfucker stand up!'.

Check out the video below directed by Brian Mulchy - it's original and works well with the song. This is a solid package all round with great cover art too, a true single release!

ALBUM REVIEW: Chali 2NA 'Fish Market Part 2' out now on Decon

In case you didn't know Chali 2NA was one of the members of legendary hip hop group Jurassic 5, who broke up back in 2007. If you still miss the J5 then you can get a slice of 2Na's unmistakable voice on his latest Fish market series instalment.

What to say about this? I mean it's simply a must have Hip hop classic ALREADY! Forget future classic this was a classic the day 2Na thought of it never mind actually recording it. There is little one can say about a record this good. There are no faults or cracks, there is nothing to criticise; it's quite simply perfection.

There are plenty of colabs as you would expect and they produce some of the stand-out tracks here like 'FM2 Theme' which comes early at second on the track-listing and then it's a head-nodding, booty-shaking trip all the way through to the politically charged climax 'Save The People'. '4 The Luv' comes kicking in strong near the end too with a stonking bassline and tight samples and lyrical execution. This shit is real and it's already in my top ten albums of the year so make sure you don't miss this one.

ALBUM REVIEW: Gangrene 'Gutter Water' out now on Decon

Don't pay any attention to the horrible name or the even more disgusting artwork on this colab debut between The Alchemist and Oh No. This is the exact opposite of that. This is hip hop in it's purest, smoothest most eloquent form. It's heavy smoky beats layered with piano riffs from heaven (see 'Not High Enough'). It's roses in bloom, mac and cheese, cheese steaks, big mac and chicken fajitas. It's fine champagne cognac after a birthday meal at Bouillon Racine. In short it's everything you could want from a hip hop album and more. There's samples galore, references to everything that is class in black music today and it's true to it's roots (see 'Gutter Water' title track).

This album is a flagship release but you would excect nothing less from Decon Records that boast having artists like RJD2, Jurassic Five and Dilated Peoples amongst their roster. Yes, enough said, just get it.
