ALBUM REVIEW: Ernesto Ferreyra El Paraiso De Las Tortugas out 8 November on Cadenza Records

The tittle translates, to those of you who haven't worked it out already, to 'The Paradise Of The Turtles'. I mean what the hell does that mean exactly? Yeah I get it but are we supposed to surmise that this is what the Turtles (of the Teenage Mutant Ninja variety?) will be listening to in paradise or just that Ernesto is one crazy guy?

Yeah the title sucks and the artwork really doesn't do much for me either. Thankfully this is a music review so let's get down to it. Disappointing is the first impression. Boring is the second and lacklustre the third. There are some good moments on this minimal?, Balearic? what is it- dance album? The best of which seems to be to me the extravagantly named 'Los Domingos Vuelo A Casa' and Derrick Carter-esque jacking house of 'Coin Sainte Cath''. 2 out of 12 tracks ain't good enough though. Seriously you should head for the quality 'Amigo' by Pier Bucci released earlier this year as it's miles and smiles better all round.

2/5
