ALBUM REVIEW: V/A DJ Deep: 'City To City 3' out now on BBE

If you don't know who this guy is then you probably never delved into the deep more cavernous realms of this thing called House. Shame on you if you have no clue but there is one thing you can do, and that is check out his resume on discogs.

The full title of this epic mixed compilation shed's a lot more light on what to expect so here it is: 'City To City 3: DJ Deep's Journey Through Chicago Detroit And New York's Secret House Gems'. The title is accurate like a tin of Ronseal.

If you like your house deep (duh), jacking, garage tinged but not flaming, hard, gritty, at times tech edged, atmospheric, wavy and of course ecstatic (lets not forget the number one component) and you know your stuff then chances are you probably picked this up already but if you missed it then make sure you get your hands on one. It came out two weeks ago so it's still fresh and with a tracklisting including cuts from house legends Kerri Chandler, Glenn Underground and Armando. I do not think I've heard anything genre specific quite as well made in every aspect since 1998's 'Kaoz Theory' compiled and mixed by Kerri Chandler.

5/5
