ALBUM REVIEW: Digitonal 'Save Your Light For Darker Days' out 4 August on Just Music

Digitonal have somehow managed to avoid the Vainzine radar for many a year.

Their new album is simply mindblowing. It's a heady fusion of ambient electronica. Imagine classical meets digital, they get on well, settle down and the result is a kid called Digitonal.

This wonderful fusion of sounds is thanks to the five band members, some classically trained like Andy Dobson who - unsurprisingly when you hear such great tracks that are true works of art like 'Silver Poetry' - has worked on soundtracks previously.

The electronica vibe comes from Josh Docherty who ran the legendary tube parties in London that saw Digitonal perform alongside the likes of Aphex Twin, Goldfrapp and Funkstorung.

I have been looking for a record like this for a while now. Something has been missing from my life since Minotaur Shock and Telepopmusiks last releases. It's bold, fresh, mellow, emotive and the perfect soundtrack to those lazy summer days in the garden soaking up the rays.

5/5
