Another compilation with a hideously long but completely relevant tittle. The complete title is 'Bustin' Out. New Wave To New Beat: The Post Punk Era 1979-81'. So this really clarifies what you are getting with this one; a selection of songs from a two year period compiled by DJ Mike Maguire.
I wont spoil the history lesson because the liner notes by Kris Needs are superb, but if you are a fan of this type of music, as am I, then this is must have compilation and a real eye opener. The track selection is diverse and Maguire has delved deep into his crates and pulled out some gems that most peeps (including moi) will probably never have heard of. That's the beauty of well thought out projects like this. They really offer you something more than a few songs. It's a properly researched history lesson and with belters like opener 'Replicas' by Gary Numan and Tubeway army, loose joints is it all over my face and fire by Lizzy Mercier Descloux it ain't half worth the entrance fee!
4/5
