ALBUM REVIEW: V/A 'From Disco To Dubstep' out 5 July on Exceptional

Did you know that it was Exceptional's 10th anniversary? Where did the decade dissapear to? This package celebrates in a very discreet manner the very essence of this electronic music label in that it does not try to remain within the accepted confines of dance music per say.

The result is an upbeat mix that progessively increases in toughness and pace as it ploughs through 16 tracks. But wait there's more, how do you fit it all in if just keeps getting harder and faster? Ha ha you have to throw in a curve ball like Butti 49's 'Alan Accelerates' Fenomenon Mix to add a bit of back room grooveness to proceedings. The great thing is that the programming means this doen't grate on the listener, or at least it didn't for me. No matter how much you analyse this product the two most important things right now (at least for me) are that it is funky, fresh and just perfect for summer listening whether you are off to Glasto, Ibiza or stuck in yout bedroom while it buckets down outside.

3.5/5
