For their mix, the girls reveal their darker side, with a collection of moody house and techno tunes to soundtrack dark February nights, blurring into early February mornings. Here's what they have to say about their mix. "Sometimes it feels pretty claustrophobic in a big city, even a bit lonely, especially as the days are short and it's freezing outside. I guess this mix sort of takes us away from that: picture a road at night, leaving all the bright lights behind till it's just the moon that lights up everything around you. These tracks would be our choice to listen to after dark, in a club or at home."

ALBUM REVIEW: V/A WATERGATE X OUT 9 NOVEMBER

OMG 10 years. Where did the time go? This comp has been boiling for a decade and is showing no signs of slowing down yet. This is a 2 disc unmixed CD which was a little disappointing as I would have liked a bonus mixed disc too but the collectors box does come with a bonus DVD about Watergate including interviews history, a photo album and a triple vinyl set and a poster and guest list admission card. INTERVIEW: DJ & Producer Tom Parris talks to Vainzine

Tom Parris began his DJ career on pirate radio in London in 1989 and now has a DJ and production career spanning over 20 years. Head honcho of Silent Disco France, he currently lives in Paris, which is where we caught up with him.

VZ: You are a British expat. How long have you been DJing in France?

TP: I first came over to DJ in France back in 1991.

VZ: You moved from the South of France to Paris. Where has the best best club scene and where do you prefer living & DJing?

TP: The South of France is amazing during the Summer. Basically everyone from Paris goes down there. The winter however is pretty quiet and Paris becomes the place to be. I've DJ'ed at incredible events at both places so it's difficult to say which is the best.

VZ: You also do Production. How long you been doing it and what is your favourite?

TP: For about 14 years. I released my first track in 1992. I think my favourite releases are Mutant Funk (Oblong Records), On The Top (End Recordings) and Nonsuch (Suerto Records).

VZ: Where is your favourite place to DJ in the World and the best party you played at?

TP: Impossible to say. There have been so many great times with so many special friends. I guess the events that stay close to my heart are probably the key first parties I went to back in the late 80's. Acid house and Raves back then were basically life changing experiences, at least they were for me.

VZ: We heard you were getting a records released in Brazil. Hows that going and any plans to DJ over there?

TP: I have just finished a remix and a new 2 track EP for Echo Deluxe Recordings who are based in Brazil. I'm hoping to go over there at some point and help promote the records.



VZ: Whats your favourite Album of all time?

TP: I've got three. 'Off The Wall' by Michael Jackson, 'Vital Idol' by Billy Idol and 'I Feel For You' by Chaka Khan.



VZ: What are your top 5 favourite tunes of all time?

TP: 'Love Will Find A Way' by Victor Romeo, 'Day In The Life' by Todd Terry, 'Ouchi Kochi' by Baby Ford, 'Let The Music Use You' by the Nightwriters and 'Planet Rock' by Africa Bambaata



VZ: Favourite track of 2012?

TP: 'Non Such' by ME!



VZ: Give us the low down on your new business Silent Disco France. What's happening and where can we catch one in Paris?

NEW: El_Txef_A 'Slow Dancing In A Burning Room'

Weird slowed down ketamine-esque vocals at the start of the album take a while to get used to and we're not sure this will prove to be a hit but it's worth a listen.

Thankfully the k-hole stops after the second track. The album 'Slow Dancing In A Burning Room' is out now on Fiakun.

VIDEO: Simian Mobile Disco 'Put Your Hands Together'

Epic techno stomper from Simian Mobile Disco. Driving bassline hypnotic groove and a hooky vocal, replete with hands in the air breakdown make this a winner which will be tearing it up in the clubs. If you are in the office you might wanna turn down your volume settings a bit before hitting 'play'.

The single is taken from the forthcoming album 'Unpatterns' out 14 May.

ALBUM REVIEW: Lone 'Galaxy Garden' out 7 May on R&S Records

Been a while since a I posted a review. I'd love to say that it's because I've been listening to piles of shit records and nothing has been worth writing about but it's simply not the case. There is tons of great music out there right now and the new album from Lone is another fine example of what is turning out to be a great year for new creativity.

Galaxy Garden is an appropriate title for what is a very other-worldy highly electronic experience. There are tough basslines aplenty here, as well as a hark back to the old skool techno classics. I'm referring to the stupendous 'Crystal Caverns 1991' one of the stand out tracks on a predominantly instrumental album. The keyboard riffs on this are insane and really hark back to some sweaty field in the countryside or an abandoned warehouse somewhere filled with kids off their nuts on ecstasy and god knows what else. Those kids will be in their late 30's and 40's now, if they made it that far. I wonder what they would make of it?

This is not an time machine or rave emulator. There is plenty of freshness on here. For something a bit more chilled and a tasty vocal check out the last track 'Spirals'. Expect songs on here to feature in TV commercials or film productions sometime soon. This is high level shit.

ALBUM REVIEW: V/A 'Watergate 10 Marco Resmann' out 20 February on Watergate

I confess that I'd never heard of Marco Resmann before. Didn't know what to expect but had a feeling as this was the 10th instalment of the Watergate compilations series and a mini milestone then it would be good. Did it live up to my expectations. That and more! It's nice to listen to a well constricted mix by a true DJ who understands the craft, history and above all class that it takes to pull off a minimal mix that isn't well, boring. Not everyone has succeeded in this in the past. Even Tiefschwarz didn't manage to do as good a job as Resmann has here.

There are loads of his own productions on here. I'll definitely be looking out for this artist in the future. If you are into soulful minimal house and techno with a soft rounded edge vibe then this will be right up your street.

ALBUM REVIEW: V/A 'Soma Records - 20 Years' out 19 September on Soma

If you buy one dance album next month then make sure you hold fire until the 19th and get this one. Not only is it an outstanding achievement to still be going for 20 years but to keep churning out high grade dance tunes across genres should be shouted from the rooftops. Soma are quite rightly doing so with this ambitious double decade celebration spanning 3 discs.

Disc one is an 11 track selection of some of their finest anthemic classic moments including the masterpiece from the late 90's Scott Grooves (feat Parliament / Funkadelic) 'Mothership Reconnection' (Daft Punk Remix). This was part of the soundtrack of my life in clubs, cafes, cars and on compilations released at the time. I even had a copy on vinyl - remember that?

Discs 2 and 3 are DJ mixes from Slam and Silicone Soul. Enough said, end of review really. But, in case you are new to all this and haven't the foggiest who they or Soma are, look them up on discogs. Both mixes are epic, spanning 36 tracks between them going through all the classics and more with some nice new remixes and reworks thrown in to boot. But you can't beat the classics can you? Rejuvination's 'Requiem' make a piano-tastic appearance on Silicone Souls mix who then seamlessly drops Slam 'Positive Education' right after. Enough to whet the appetite? No, well right after that drops 'This World' (Wignomy Bros. & Robag Wruhme dub) / vocal [Silicone Soul - The Snake Charmer Edit] - a massive hands in the air moment - the pigeons on my balcony are wondering what the fuck I'm doing right now and my cats have slinked of to hide under the bed in embarrassment.

The Slam mix is equally as epic but I shan't spoil that one for you, you just have to go and get yourselves a copy - only 1 month 17 days to wait!

ALBUM REVIEW: V/A 'Body Language Vol.10 M.A.N.D.Y' out now on Get Physical

Is this is as good as M.A.N.D.Y.'s first attempt which launched this series way back in 2005? Of course I am talking about the truly epic Body Language Vol.1 which if you have yet to have had the orgasmic aural delights commonly associated with listening to said release you really should consider purchasing, erm yesterday!

So this is sadly not as good as the first, but then such is life. I mean, sex excluded, the first things are usually the best as we 'chase the dragon' in a vain attempt to replicate these premier events. Off the top of my head my first cigarette, pill, joint, insert other drug here, football match, cheese sandwich, cigar, glass of vintage 30 year old wine were all the best and have yet to be bettered. In the case of the cigarette they hardly even register now on the rare occasion nicotine passes through my Hypothalamus but boy oh boy that first one sent me swimming! The same can be said of the Body Language series. Whilst I still more than enjoy listening to the great series, I have never been truly as moved as I was by the classic mix by M.A.N.D.Y in Vol.1.

So, as much as I do truly and honestly adore this - especially good is the Carl Craig Edit of 'Void 23' by Ramadamman & Appleblim and 'To Insanity & Beyond' by Patrice Baumel - it's not the best in the series by a long shot. Of course as an individual mix release this is truly excellent and M.A.N.D.Y can teach the budding DJ a thing or two about programming and beatmixing so pay attention to that and in case you got the wrong idea from the initial diatribe I still think you should buy it so what you waiting for?
